What exactly will my role involve as a new franchise owner?
Depending on your skills and preferred activities, your role is likely to include marketing Just Better Care services in your territory, recruiting staff and administrative work. Unless you are an experienced Services Coordinator we do recommend that you recruit someone with industry- specific rostering experience. As your business grows and you hire more staff your role will mainly be one of leadership, business development and financial management.
What background or experience is required?
We are seeking dedicated people with a passion for caring. Ideally they’ll also possess initiative, integrity and ambition. Franchise owners must be willing to follow the Just Better Care business system and operations manuals. Good communication, presentation, interpersonal skills and the ability to organise and manage a team are essential. You may have worked within the health care industry or with people with disabilities. Or, alternatively you may be a person with business skills and an interest in the health care industry.
What will a franchise cost?
The estimated start-up investment of setting up a Just Better Care franchise is $180,000 to $200,000, depending on location. It includes a franchise fee of $55,000, a $10,000 training fee, $10,000 for opening promotional expenses, I.T. office fit-out and working capital.
We also recommend that you maintain an outside source of income while you establish your business. This can be accomplished through the income of a spouse or business partner or through other means.
How much training will I receive and what will it cost?
You’ll be required to attend two New Franchise Owner Training Programs in Sydney. Each will last a week. The first will take you step-by-step through setting up your office to maximise functionality, installation of your I.T. and telephone systems and recruiting staff. The second week will cover the many facets of operating our unique community care model. Then, as your business begins operating, you’ll receive our comprehensive on-site training, as required. The cost of this initial training is $10,000 plus travel and accommodation costs.
What ongoing franchise payments are required?
An ongoing franchise service fee of 6% of gross turnover is payable after the first year of trading or on reaching 500 service hours, whichever occurs first.
A contribution of 1.5% of gross turnover is payable by all franchise owners into a national marketing fund to build the Just Better Care brand and compliment the promotions and advertising you do locally. You are required to budget a percentage of gross turnover to promote your business within your territory. This promotion can include: local print advertising, posters, brochures, mailings and sponsorship of community events.
How much could I end up earning?
Your earnings potential and your level of gross income will depend upon a range of factors including the effort and energy you put into your business. While we cannot provide projected earnings for you, we can provide a financial modelling tool and key information to allow you do your own projections and set earnings targets to support your lifestyle. We will provide as much information as we can under the provisions of the Franchising Code of Practice, but strongly recommend that you also seek advice from an independent financial advisor.
How long is the Franchise Agreement for?
The term on the Just Better Care Franchise Agreement is for five years with two renewal periods of five years. We are looking to establish long-term relationships with franchise owners by providing on-going encouragement and support.
Can I sell my Just Better Care business?
Yes. You can sell the business at any time during the initial term of the agreement or subsequent renewal periods. However, the business must be sold to an acceptable operator approved by Just Better Care Australia Pty Ltd. Also, any new owners must agree to the conditions in the then current Franchise Agreement.
Where are Just Better Care Territories available?
Just Better Care has carefully developed a business expansion plan and mapped exclusive territories to offer all franchise owners an equal opportunity to succeed. Territories are available in metropolitan and regional areas of Victoria, Illawarra, Mid and Upper North Coast in New South Wales, Brisbane North, Outer North & CDB, and the Queensland Sunshine Coast.
